What we collect, why, and how to get rid of it. Short, because we deliberately collect very little.
Photos
Your photos are never stored. They are held in memory only for the length of the request, sent to Anthropic's API to generate the draft, and discarded as soon as the response is returned. They are not written to disk, not cached, and not used to train anything by us.
Anthropic processes them as our sub-processor in order to return the draft. Do not upload photos containing anything you would not want processed this way, such as documents, faces you have no right to share, or personal paperwork in the background.
What we store
| Data | Why | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Sign-in links, and the launch waitlist if you asked to be told | Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it |
| A random identifier in a cookie | Counts your free listings for the day without needing an account | Up to one year |
| A salted hash of your IP address | Abuse protection. The address itself is never stored | 7 days |
| Daily listing counts | Enforcing allowances | Ongoing |
| Visit length, in seconds | Knowing whether the app is actually useful | 90 days |
| Purchases and credit balance | Giving you what you paid for, and answering billing questions | As long as required for tax and accounting records |
We never see or store your card details. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe on their own pages.
Who else is involved
- Anthropic — generates the draft from your photos.
- Stripe — takes payments and stores card details.
- Resend — sends sign-in emails.
- Fly.io — hosts the app, in London.
- Umami — privacy-focused page analytics. No cookies, no cross-site tracking.
- Google Fonts — serves the wordmark font, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads.
Legal basis
We process your data to provide a service you asked for (contract), to keep it running and prevent abuse (legitimate interests), and, for the launch waitlist, because you consented. Consent can be withdrawn at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@listitapp.org and we will action it within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Deleting your account removes your email address, your credit balance and your purchase history from the app. We may keep the minimum transaction records that tax law requires us to keep.
